EUROPE

🧭

Europe, situated in the Northern Hemisphere and mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere, is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, and Asia to the east. It covers about 10.18 million square kilometers, making it the second-smallest continent by land area. With approximately 745 million people, Europe is home to around 10% of the world’s population, comprising about fifty sovereign states, the largest being Russia. The European climate is influenced by warm Atlantic currents, producing a temperate climate across much of the continent.

Culturally, Europe is a tapestry of national and regional cultures that form the foundation of Western civilization, referencing ancient Greece and Rome as central roots. The continent has a rich history, from the post-classical Middle Ages to the Italian Renaissance and the Age of Discovery. European powers have played a significant role in global affairs, engaging in exploration, colonization, and trade. The continent has also been shaped by conflicts like the World Wars and the Cold War, leading to the formation of institutions like the European Union (EU).
